Day 40 / Dzien 40.

Woke up to Talkeetna buzzing with stories from the night before. Travel Channel prima donna was doing a burger eating challenge at another local restaurant and many people went to watch it (we skipped it so I'm relaying here on what we were told). The burger was cooked. Two and a half pounds of reindeer meat, twenty or so slices of ham or bacon, a mount of cheese, and all the fixings. Prima donna took bunch of pictures with it and then abandoned it and moved to refusing kids autographs and offending the locals. Goodbye Mr. Man vs. Food, you will not be missed!

I didn't tell you but on Saturday night the car really died. It wouldn't even start. So it was quite a relief to find out today that we had not 1 but 4 free towings per year. AAA truck showed up really fast (you'd not believe you're in Alaska!) and took us to our mechanic. So now things are in progress.

Talkeetna turnes out to be such a cosmopolitan place! Today we met a guy from Belgium camping out on the river, a guy from Israel in town for the winter to train racing dogs and... Michal from Poland visiting Alaska with his friends to get a break from teaching in Hawaii. Supposely there are also Norweegians in town but nobody has seen them so far.

Hamburger zostal przyrzadzony. Dwa i pol funta miesa renifera, dwadziescia plastrow szynki lub bekonu, gora sera i wszelkich dodatkow. Primadonna zrobila sobie z nim mnostwo zdjec, a nastepnie go porzucila i przeszla do odmawiania dzieciom autografow i urazania miejscowych.
