Day 24 / Dzien 24.

Crossed Mackenzie River and drove through a bison sanctuary. As soon as we entered, there they were. We saw three herds, one of them walking in the middle of the road. Adults seem very stoic (much like cows) but the youngsters jump and play like baby horses.
It rained all day. We discovered that the roof leaks a bit. But what’s worse, we were planning on taking a shortcut west, after coming back from Yellowknife. The shortcut is roughly 280 miles on a dirt road. Not gravel. Dirt. The (only) alternative is going back the way we came and then around, almost 700 miles. We’ll soon have a big decision to make.

Przekroczylismy rzeke Mackenzie i przejechalismy przez obszar ochronny bizonow. Zobaczylismy je od razu. Napotkalismy trzy stada, jedno z nich szlo srodkiem drogi.
Gruntowej. Opcja druga (i ostatnia) to powrot ta sama droga, ktora przyjechalismy, a potem naokolo, ponad 1100 km. Bedziemy wkrotce mieli powazna decyzje do podjecia.

Above: more of the Alexandra Falls, David Blaine and Hay River. Below: the Great Slave Lake after sunset.
Powyzej: wiecej Wodospadu Alexandra, David Blaine i rzeka Hay. Ponizej: Jezioro Great Slave po zachodzie.
