Day 72 / Dzien 72.

Lee planned out a day of fun in Seattle for the two of fun. After taking a train and a bus, and getting soaked in rain, I started to wonder if the destination was worth the trouble.
- "So why are we going to this park?"
- "It has a salmon ladder."
- "What??? Let me get it straight: we're going to a park at night, in pouring rain, to see salmon that's not running this time of the year?"
I swear, next time I'm pre-approving any fun day plans.

Lee zaplanowal dla nas dzien pelen atrakcji w Seattle. Po przejechaniu sporego dystansu pociagiem i autobusem, i po przemoknieciu (pada strasznie), zaczelam sie zastanawiac czy cel podrozy jest wart tego calego zachodu.
- "Dlaczego idziemy do tego parku?"
- "Jest tam drabina dla lososi."
- "Co takiego??? Pomoz mi sie w tym polapac: idziemy do parku w nocy, w ulewie, zeby zobaczyc lososie, ktorych nie ma tam o tej porze roku?"
Daje slowo, od teraz bede zawczasu zatwierdzac wszelkie listy atrakcji.

The next thing on Lee's list was way more thrilling. A Scandinavian bar with small plates of such delicacies as pickled herring (yummy!), a great beer selection from the European North and the best thing of all: akvavit, which is potato or grain alcohol infused with such spices as caraway, dill, coriander and fennel. It was love from the first sip. Try it if you get a chance!
From there we went on a long journey across the town to get sushi, but right before finally reaching our destination, a stranger's recommendation made us change our mind. I'm happy we listened to her. It turned out to be a swanky Japanese restaurant in an even more swanky hotel. We were very much under-dressed for the occasion (I was wearing rain boots) but we had too much akvavit in us to feel uncomfortable. We had a great dinner and managed to find our way home, where the boys introduced us to Glee. We're hooked.

Skandynawski bar z przystawkami zlozonymi z takich przysmakow jak marynowany sledz (Polakom nieobcy ale tutaj wielkie dziwy), wspanialym wyborem piwa z europejskiej Polnocy i najlepszym frykasem ze wszystkich: akvavitem, ktory jest alkoholem destylowanym z ziemniakow lub zboza, z takimi przyprawami jak kminek, koper, kolendra lub fenkul. To byla milosc od pierwszego lyka. Sprobujcie jesli bedziecie mieli okazje!
Nastepnie udalismy sie w dluga podroz przez cale miasto na sushi, ale tuz przed dotarciem do celu rekomendacja otrzymana od nieznajomej sklonila nas do zmiany zdania. Ciesze sie, ze posluchalismy. Polecane miejsce okazalo sie byc bardzo elegancka japonska restauracja w jeszcze bardziej eleganckim hotelu. Nie bylismy stosownie ubrani (ja bylam w kaloszach) ale mielismy w sobie zbyt wiele akvavitu zeby sie czuc nieswojo. Mielismy wspanialy obiad i udalo nam sie znalezc droge do domu, gdzie chlopcy wprowadzili nas w swiat Glee (musicalowego serialu). Jestesmy uzaleznieni.
